Problem Statement

When something breaks in an African urban home or business — a wire sparks, a pipe bursts, a lock fails — there is no reliable system to fix it. Customers call a neighbour's contact, walk to a road junction, or post in a WhatsApp group and hope someone responds. The person who shows up has no verified ID, no agreed price, and no accountability if the work fails. For households living close to the financial margin, paying twice for the same repair is a genuine economic shock. For the artisan side, the pain is structural invisibility: electricians, plumbers, and carpenters with real skills earn $3–8 on good days and nothing on bad ones — standing at junctions with no job pipeline, no digital identity, and permanent exclusion from credit and insurance. No system exists that solves both failures simultaneously. The electrician who inspired AceLink said it plainly: "Some days I get work. Other days I starve." That sentence is the pain point.

AceLink is a real-time, trust-first marketplace that eliminates both failures in the same transaction. Customers open the app or dial a USSD code, select their service, see nearby verified artisans with ratings and upfront pricing, confirm the job, track arrival in real time, and pay via mobile money — with every transaction logged, receipted, and rated. On the supply side, artisans are recruited through TVET institutions and community clusters, verified through a multi-step process covering ID, skills assessment, references, and safety screening, and given a professional digital profile and cumulative earnings record with every completed job. That work history becomes the foundation for tool loans, micro-insurance, and credit — financial products artisans currently cannot access anywhere. What makes AceLink uniquely defensible is the architecture: real-time dispatch for urgent service demand, USSD access serving feature-phone users, mobile-money-first payments requiring no bank account, and a proprietary artisan data asset that deepens with every transaction.
