About Codx Systems
CodX Systems is an Industrial Automation and Robotics Startup. We are developing an innovative wall-climbing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) rover called ERMINEX, it is designed to inspect metallic structures such as ship hulls, storage tanks, and bridges. It can climb vertical and curved surfaces to detect cracks, corrosion, and hidden defects on both the surface and inside the structure, ensuring accurate assessment of structural integrity. Erminex also creates a 3D map of the identified defects, helping engineers visualize the extent and location of damage for timely maintenance and improved safety
Problem Statement
In the industries, inspection of ship hulls, ballast tanks, water/oil/chemical tanks and dockyard structures is a critical yet highly challenging process. Current inspection methods rely heavily on manual Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using scaffolding or rope access, which are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and hazardous for workers. These inspections often face accessibility issues, especially in complex or elevated structures, leading to incomplete assessments and potential oversight of internal defects such as corrosion and cracks. Additionally, existing methods generate limited data, making it difficult to visualize the extent and progression of structural deterioration over time. This lack of accurate and timely information results in increased maintenance costs, unexpected breakdowns, and extended vessel downtime.
Solution & Value Proposition
Our product, Erminex, is a wall-climbing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) rover designed to automate the inspection of metallic surfaces such as ship hulls, ballast tanks, water/oil/chemical tanks and dockyard structures while vessels are in dry dock. The rover eliminates the need for scaffolding or rope access by climbing vertical and curved surfaces, ensuring complete coverage of areas that are difficult or dangerous for humans to reach. Equipped with ultrasonic and visual sensors, Erminex can detect cracks, corrosion, and internal defects without damaging the material. It also generates a 3D defect map, providing engineers with precise, visual data for structural assessment and maintenance planning. By automating inspection, Erminex makes the process up to 4X faster, reduces human risk, and delivers accurate, data-driven insights for predictive maintenance helping shipyards, refineries, factories improve efficiency, safety, and reliability in their inspection workflows.
