About CredIT
CredIT is a UPI-linked digital credit platform that turns everyday purchases into progressively earned credit. Users pay through UPI, receive a pre-qualified credit limit based on eligible transactions, and borrow only when they choose. Loans are disbursed by regulated NBFC/bank partners. CredIT uses transaction and repayment behavior to build behavioral credit intelligence, helping underserved and first-time borrowers access responsible formal credit.
Problem Statement
Millions of Indians make small, essential purchases every day, yet their ability to access formal credit is often determined by a limited snapshot of their financial history rather than their actual, ongoing financial behavior. A student buying groceries, a gig worker purchasing fuel, an early-career employee paying for medicines, or a blue-collar worker managing daily essentials may have a consistent pattern of spending and repayment but still struggle to access small-ticket formal credit when they need it. Traditional credit systems are largely built around historical credit records, income documentation and conventional financial profiles, which can leave first-time borrowers and thin-file customers underserved. At the same time, when unexpected expenses arise, these customers may have limited convenient options for small amounts of short-term liquidity. The problem is not necessarily that they need large loans; often, they need ₹500, ₹1,000 or ₹5,000 at the right moment, with transparent terms and a manageable repayment cycle. Without suitable formal alternatives, they can become dependent on informal borrowing, expensive short-term credit or borrowing from friends and family. There is also a fundamental data gap. A conventional credit score may tell a lender whether someone has borrowed and repaid in the past, but it does not necessarily capture the full picture of how a person manages everyday financial activity. Recurring grocery purchases, essential spending patterns, transaction consistency, changing spending behavior and sustained repayment discipline can provide a much richer behavioral signal of financial stability. This is the problem CredIT is designed to solve. By connecting everyday UPI transactions with a consent-based credit infrastructure, CredIT aims to help transform real-world payment behavior into a progressively earned pathway to formal credit. Instead of giving users a large credit line upfront, the model can start with controlled eligibility, observe behavior over time, and allow responsible borrowers to progressively improve their access to credit. The importance goes beyond lending. If millions of thin-file and first-time digital borrowers can build a stronger financial profile through responsible everyday behavior, CredIT can help bridge the gap between being financially active and being financially recognized. Today, a person can be financially responsible every day and still look “thin” on paper. CredIT aims to make that responsible behavior visible, measurable and meaningful for access to formal credit.
