Problem Statement

India's intercity car rental market is highly fragmented, unorganized, and lacks transparent pricing. Customers booking one-way intercity cabs are often charged for a round trip because cab operators struggle to find return customers, making travel unnecessarily expensive. Customers also face kilometre tampering, inconsistent fares and limited billing transparency. At the same time, independent cab owners and drivers face low vehicle utilization and empty return trips, which directly impacts their earnings.

Solution & Value Proposition

YATRI CABS is building a technology-driven one-way intercity mobility network that connects demand across cities to reduce empty return trips and eliminate unnecessary round-trip charges for customers. Our “Return Fare Not Fair” model enables customers to pay for one-way travel instead of bearing the cost of a cab's return journey. Our GPS-based billing system calculates travel distance using location data, improving fare transparency and reducing kilometre tampering. By combining technology, route-based demand and a network of cab owners, we aim to improve vehicle utilization, increase driver and cab owner earnings, and make intercity cab travel more affordable and transparent.
