Zanika is a tech-enabled waste management platform that organizes the last mile of waste collection by connecting households and institutions with local waste collectors through a simple digital system. Today, waste collection in many Indian cities is unreliable, informal, and inefficient.
Problem Statement
Paste this. It’s sharp and problem-focused. --- The core problem Zanika is solving is the breakdown of last-mile waste collection in urban India. Waste generation is increasing rapidly, but collection and recycling systems remain unorganized, informal, and inefficient. Households and small institutions do not have reliable, transparent options for segregated waste pickup. Collection is irregular, pricing is unclear, and there is no accountability once waste leaves the doorstep. As a result, most recyclable waste ends up mixed, undervalued, or dumped in landfills. On the other side, waste collectors and scrap workers operate without digital tools, predictable income, or fair pricing. They rely on fragmented offline networks, face income instability, and have no system to track work, earnings, or material flow. This makes the entire ecosystem inefficient and fragile. Because there is no coordination layer between waste generators and collectors, valuable recyclable materials are lost, cities face mounting landfill pressure, and sustainability efforts fail at execution. Zanika addresses this structural gap. The challenge is not the absence of workers or waste, but the absence of organization, transparency, and incentives at the last mile.
Solution & Value Proposition
We solve this by building a tech-first, commission-based waste pickup network instead of relying on fixed scrap dealers. Zanika connects households directly with freelance collectors through an app, ensuring guaranteed pickups, transparent pricing, and instant rewards for users. On the backend, we optimize routes, track waste flow, and aggregate scrap to sell at better rates. This removes middlemen inefficiencies, increases collector earnings, and turns waste into a measurable, scalable value system rather than an informal, unreliable process.
